Fiskars SureCut A4 narrow versus wide base: compare support width, not carton size

Two A4 Fiskars SureCut trimmers can share a cutting length while offering different support beneath the paper. The useful desk comparison is therefore not just “can it cut A4?”

The official 2026 Creating catalogue, printed pages 66–67, identifies A4 Narrow Base article 1077799 and A4 Wide Base article 1077980. Both list a 30.5cm cut length. Their documented base-deck widths differ.

Article Base-deck width With swing-out ruler
1077799 Narrow Base 7.5cm 30.5cm
1077980 Wide Base 16cm 38.7cm

Watch the catalogue’s measurement note

The catalogue also says its general product measurements are measurements in packaging. Do not use a carton length or width as an exact drawing of the open tool on your desk. The separately labelled cutting length and base-deck dimensions answer more specific questions.

For a purchase decision, consider the sheet or photograph you regularly need to support, the available clear working area and storage space. A broad support surface may suit one layout; a narrow tool may suit another. Those preferences do not establish greater cutting accuracy in a test we have not performed.

Identify the actual article offered

Check the article number rather than relying on an orange-and-grey product photograph. The same catalogue includes A5, recycled-blend and other trimmers. Their dimensions and included components should not be silently transferred to these two models.

If replacement supplies are part of the buying decision, match the documented model with the manufacturer’s compatibility guidance. A general “Fiskars blade” listing is not enough to identify every trimmer mechanism.

Our preference would be to resolve the working support and storage arrangement before comparing a bundle’s extras. The shared A4 description tells you less about day-to-day placement than the deck dimensions do.

Documentation checked 24 October 2026. No cutting, blade-life or accuracy test. This is a product-selection comparison, not blade-changing or operating instructions; follow the product manual. Related: buying guides.
