humangear GoToob and GoToob+ caps: identify the generation before replacing one

A replacement cap described only as GoToob can leave its generation unresolved. The plus sign matters when sourcing a part for a travel bottle, and the cap has different care instructions from the tube and collar.

In humangear’s Compatibility and Tips page, the replacement-cap answer explicitly says original GoToob and GoToob+ caps are different and not interchangeable. The same page says tubes and collars are top-rack dishwasher safe, while flip caps can be hand-washed in warm soapy water.

Build a useful spare-part request

Photograph the actual tube, collar and cap. Keep the full product name with those images and explain which component is damaged. A cap-only offer should not be treated as a tube-and-collar replacement merely because the listing photograph shows a complete bottle.

The FAQ’s wording about cap availability is not proof of present local stock. Before ordering, check the actual offered generation and included parts. For an uncertain older bottle, use manufacturer assistance rather than forcing a similar-looking closure into place.

Keep part fit and contents compatibility separate

A correctly fitted cap does not establish that every liquid is suitable for the tube. The manufacturer describes travel use rather than long-term storage and provides a separate compatibility list. Consult that current list for the intended contents. This article concerns parts and care; it gives no medication, sanitizer or chemical-decanting recipe.

We would keep a small equipment record with the travel kit: generation, spare-part name and the care instruction for each component. That avoids both buying the wrong cap and applying one part’s cleaning permission to the entire assembly.
