Joseph Joseph Nest 9 Plus versus Prep and Store Steel: count functions rather than pieces

A larger piece count does not automatically mean a more useful bowl set. Joseph Joseph’s Nest 9 Plus and Prep and Store Steel assortments combine different functions, so compare what each piece actually does.

The US Nest 9 Plus Blue record lists two mixing bowls, a colander, a sieve and five measuring cups. The Prep and Store Steel record instead lists four stainless-steel bowls with corresponding lids.

Set Documented assortment
Nest 9 Plus 4.5L and 0.5L bowls; 3L colander; 1.65L sieve; five measuring cups.
Prep and Store Steel 5L, 3.8L, 2.1L and 1.2L bowls, each with a lid.

Map the set to a normal preparation session

If your usual task needs measuring, draining and sieving, the mixed 9 Plus assortment offers those named tools. If the task needs several covered bowls for preparation and storage, the steel assortment addresses a different requirement.

Check what is already in the cupboard. Replacing a missing sieve and small measuring cups is a different purchase from adding four covered bowls. Buying a set to obtain one needed component may add duplicates that undermine the intended space saving.

Nested storage is only one part of the decision

The US records list a 28.5 × 28.5cm footprint for both sets, with different heights. Measure the actual shelf and access route rather than infer fit from a photograph. During use, the pieces are separated and need working and drying space.

Follow each set’s care instructions. The 9 Plus record says not microwave-safe; the steel set gives its own bowl and lid cleaning requirements. Do not transfer permissions between assortments because both carry the Nest name.

Our choice would follow the repeated task and existing tools, then the storage arrangement. Piece count and stainless-steel construction are useful descriptive fields, but neither establishes that one set is universally better or more durable.
