An A5 notebook’s paper can fit an A5 description while its binding makes the complete book wider. Maruman’s Mnemosyne N195A record provides both dimensions, which are useful for different purchases.
The official Japan N195A page lists 210 × 148mm for the inner paper and 210 × 161 × 10mm for the notebook body. It specifies 80 sheets of 80g/m² writing paper, twin-wire binding, perforations and 7mm special ruling. Those are manufacturer fields, not our measurements.
| Planning task | Relevant field |
|---|---|
| Page layout | 210 × 148mm inner-paper size. |
| Bag pocket or cover | 210 × 161 × 10mm complete-body envelope. |
| Replacement identity | N195A, not every Mnemosyne notebook. |
| Detached-note workflow | Perforations plus a separate filing method. |
Plan the destination of a detached page
Maruman describes a title/date area and heavier lines that divide the page into three sections. A useful meeting-note arrangement could assign those sections to discussion, decisions and follow-up. That is our layout suggestion, not a built-in task-management system.
If you intend to remove and file notes, use consistent titles and dates before detaching them. A perforation provides a removal feature; it does not establish a pre-punched page or compatibility with an arbitrary ring binder. Confirm the separate filing arrangement you actually want to use.
Choose a cover around the book, not just the sheet
A sleeve advertised only as A5 may or may not accommodate the wider bound envelope and wire. Compare the cover maker’s usable dimensions and closure arrangement, including anything you keep attached. Do not force a fit based on the paper-size name.
We would shortlist N195A when its ruled layout and detachable-note format suit the work, then resolve carrying and filing. Other Mnemosyne codes can mean different sizes or ruling. Retaining the full code makes a later replacement more dependable than ordering any black A5 notebook from the same brand.
