“Wireless Micro” does not identify every receiver included in a RØDE package. A phone receiver and a camera receiver answer different connection requirements, so the package name matters as much as the transmitter name.
RØDE’s connection support page distinguishes USB-C and Lightning phone receivers and warns that a thick case can prevent a proper physical connection. It also describes a separate iOS Direct Connect route through RØDE Capture. That app-specific route should not be assumed to work in every camera or recording app.
The manufacturer’s camera-use answer says the Camera Kit includes a USB-C receiver and a dedicated Camera Receiver. Existing Wireless Micro owners can separately obtain the Camera Receiver for a 3.5mm connection path. Both pages were checked on 24 October 2026.
Write the connection before choosing the kit
| Planned use | What to identify |
|---|---|
| Phone with the plug-in receiver | Actual phone port, receiver version and physical clearance with the case. |
| iOS Direct Connect | The RØDE Capture workflow and its current device and software requirements. |
| Camera audio input | Exact camera input and the dedicated Camera Receiver path. |
| Phone and camera work | Which receivers are included in the exact package offered. |
A plug adapter is not, by itself, evidence that an unsupported receiver path becomes supported. If the desired phone, camera or recording application is not clearly covered, ask RØDE about the complete combination rather than inferring compatibility from the connector shape.
Account for the switching routine
Someone who records only on one phone can value a different package from someone who moves between a camera and phone during the same job. List the devices and where each recording should be saved. Include the physical receiver in that record so it is clear which part moves when you change devices.
Our view: compare package contents only after identifying the required paths. A smaller kit may be appropriate for one documented phone routine, while a mixed-device routine needs the corresponding receivers and compatibility checks. This is a workflow distinction, not a claim that one path sounds better or records reliably on every device.
