Osprey Daylite 26+6: separate expansion capacity from an unresolved size check

The Osprey Daylite 26+6 can be considered as two packing states: the base pack and the expanded pack. Osprey’s UK F24-model page describes 26 litres and a further six litres of internal capacity. That is useful for planning what changes on a return journey; it does not establish the outside size of your packed bag.

Make the extra capacity answer a real question

Start with the items you must carry before expansion. Then identify what you expect to add later. A souvenir or extra garment is a planning example, not a claim about how many items this pack will hold.

Journey stage What to write down What to check separately
Departure Base packing list and intended unexpanded state The actual packed outside dimensions and weight
Return Additional items and whether expansion is intended A fresh check of the loaded bag in that state
Change of carrier The operating carrier, service and booked fare That booking’s current size and weight allowance

This makes an expansion feature relevant to the trip instead of assuming that a larger litre label is always better. If the extra space is needed only after the final flight, that is a different requirement from carrying an expanded bag through every segment.

The listed widths do not agree

The checked Specifications section gives 43H × 33W × 16D cm and, separately, 17H × 12W × 6D inches. Twelve inches is 30.48 cm, not 33 cm. That calculation identifies a discrepancy; it does not tell us which width describes the actual bag. There is not sufficient evidence here for a precise fit recommendation.

Keep both entries attached to the source and ask the maker to confirm the dimensions and configuration if a strict limit matters. Meanwhile, use the two-state worksheet without inserting an assumed width. A broad manufacturer carry-on description is not confirmation for your individual booking.
