Therefore 05 should not be read as a 0.5mm ball diameter. Sakura’s PN product page describes a firm but flexible nib whose line changes with writing pressure.

Label

What it tells you

Micron 05

A documented line-size code: 0.45mm in the cited range.

Micron PN

The plastic-nib variant with pressure-responsive line behaviour.

Colour or set count

A separate selection; it does not replace the nib identity.

Choose the mark you want to make

For a drawing that depends on a particular listed line size, keep that size attached to the exact pen. For everyday notes, consider whether a different nib response is more suitable for the way you write. Neither label alone guarantees the same line on every paper or under every hand pressure.

Sakura’s pen-care FAQ says fine Micron points require a light touch and names PN as a more durable-point alternative suited to everyday writing. That is manufacturer guidance, not our comparative wear test or a guarantee against damage.

Paper and previous layers still matter

The FAQ also warns that foreign material such as partly dried paint, dust or fibrous surfaces can clog a nib. A pen selected for a line drawing on clean paper is not automatically suitable for writing over every painted or textured surface.

We would compare a sample of the intended handwriting or drawing on the actual paper before buying a large colour set. Retain the nib label in any later replacement order: a familiar barrel or ink family does not make PN and a numbered Micron identical tools.

Manufacturer product, size and care pages checked 24 October 2026. No line-width measurement, wear, waterproofness or paper test. Documented line figures are nominal maker specifications, not a measured writing result.
